Cloudy's life is a cycle. As a cloud, life's about drifting through the skies, carrying the story of the water cycle in every gentle swell. From misty mornings to thunderous afternoons, Claudia journeys through the endless dance of transformation: evaporating, drifting, and pouring down as rain. Through her eyes, the familiar becomes wondrous: rivers flowing back to her embrace, seas of creatures, sunlight that changes her form, and the quiet promise of renewal.
Cloudy is a stop motion short film project were I worked alongside with Pao Ramos from the very conception of the idea, to the final cut of the short film. Also, our great friend Erick Alcántara created the beautiful music score for the project. We named our project Claudia, since it's an spanish name that kind of sounds like Cloudy, an enflish term for a sky full of clouds, giving our principal character a full identity.
We had so much fun creating the concept ideas for our characters and the settings. Letting our creativity loose, we experimented with a vast range of materials, from real street stones, to car painting, to evoque a whimsical feeling in the settings. Pao was a total MVP moving our characters while I handled the cameras, lightening and Snapdragon program to keep continuity in our shots.
Experience the water cycle not just as science, but as a life journey seen through Claudia’s soft, vaporous heart.
